Overview
Module
3 focuses on essential pediatric health
screenings and risk assessments:
Vision
Hearing
Blood Pressure
Nutrition
Development
and Behavior
The module
discusses recommended guidelines, periodicity, and age-appropriate
methods for screening and risk assessment. Risk
is determined by history, interview, observation, physical
examination, and objective testing when indicated.
Screening
for lead, anemia, and other conditions is addressed in Module
4, Screening with Laboratory Tests.
Users who
complete the Screening and Risk Assessment module should be
able to answer the following questions:
- What are
the recommended procedures and timing for assessing and testing
vision?
- How are
risk assessments and hearing screenings performed in infants,
children, and adolescents?
- When does
blood pressure screening begin? How is it measured and recorded?
- When and
how are a child's nutritional status and risk assessed?
- What are
the core components of developmental surveillance throughout
well-child visits?
