  • All children need to be physically active regularly to grow up healthy. Promoting an active lifestyle is the best way to help them have healthy lives.
  • Being physically active helps develop strong bones and muscles, promote fitness and heart health, burn calories, and promote a healthy weight.
  • Barriers may get in the way of children being physically active.
  • Young children ages 1–2 need at least 30 minutes of structured physical activity and at least 60 minutes and up to several hours of unstructured physical activity each day.
  • Young children ages 3–4 need at least 60 minutes of structured physical activity and at least 60 minutes and up to several hours of unstructured physical activity each day.
